Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak this week lifted the license transfer moratorium put in place after suspicious outsiders attempted to buy their way into the Silver State industry. Resulting investigations led the state’s Cannabis Compliance Board to “revamp” its investigative division. As many as 20% of Nevada’s license backlog could see decisions at the board’s August 25 meeting.
- The ban on license transfers came last fall, after Rudy Giuliani, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman contributed to Republican office-seekers Adam Laxalt and Wes Duncan.
- “Concerns about who is interested in entering this privileged industry will always remain,” says CCB Executive Director Tyler Klimas.
